Wednesday was the first action by the recently formed Contra Costa 99%. A few hundred people showed up to the demonstration in Walnut Creek. Pretty fantastic for a group that formed only about a week beforehand. Video:
As one may expect, the crowd was very liberal (as opposed to radical.) The organizers of this action seemed to not really understand that the main thing the Occupy movement has agreed on is a participatory and consensus based form of decision making. read a good critique of the Walnut Creek demo here.
Finally, I recommend everyone, especially those new to this who protesting thing read the letter Crimethinc wrote to the Occupy movement. The anti globalization movement learned a lot during the last decade. The Occupy folks should use that knowledge.
this blog is created as a radical alternative to the number of moderate to conservative blogs from the concord area. for better or worse, the interwebs have become an important part of our society, and we feel the need to represent our points of view on these interwebs. as we all know, if it isnt on the interwebs it doesnt exist. send hate email to qnieinsone at gmail.
